If you can afford it Sikkens is the best hands down for a gloss, their new polyurethane gloss looks promising too. Other than that Dulux trade, you can get a brushmark finish no matter what you use to apply it.

Over the years I moved well away from Johnstones/Leyland and Crown and now a firm user of Glidden for the cheaper work and Dulux trade for the customer who's prepared to pay.

As mentioned before Zinsser are pretty awesome for priming and stain blocking; especially B.I.N.

Glidden's white satin finish is nice, I prefer that to Dulux's satin. Unless of course you need a coloured sating then it's Dulux.

Glidden contract matt for ceilings, just beware of it cracking in corners due to it being a little brittle as there's no vinyl.

Glidden vinyl matt / Dulux trade vinyl matt both are real nice and cover in a couple of good coats.
