I'm buying a holiday flat to rent out so I'm on a tight budget and timescale. There is a bath, but no shower. I plan to get a shower installed above the bath, but the walls around the bath have high-gloss/varnish timber T&G cladding on them.

Do I abolsutely need to tile over this / install some of those uPVC panels OR can I put some kind of sealant / treatment on the existing cladding that will make it waterproof? Even if it will only last 12 months I'd rather do this then properly tile it over winter when business is quiet. If I can seal it, what process / products are recommended?

I recommend use uPVC to make your shower beautiful. My i suggest consult the professional plumber to learn some idea before you install a shower.
