looking for some good quality drill bits, that are going to last a long time. I've seen Bosch ones in the shops for about £30 for a set of 100. Is it worth considering some cheaper ones?

Yes they are good. Very good and robust.

You can probably get a cheap set of 100 drills from Pound Stretcher which will do you for just an odd occasion. The Bosch ones I have and they've lasted me quite a while much more than I would have expected. It might be worth buying a few decent Bosch ones for most jobs and then a cheap big set for once in a blue moon drill sizes.

I've just bought myself a Makita 18v drill and can't wait to rev it up, my first piece of decent power tool. Looks the dogs danlgies.
