Default energy saving bulbs

We've put one on these in our house recently and the light it gives off is god damn awful. This is the culprit.

It might save some energy but it makes my room look like in a fridge it's that white.

Is there any point to these?

Energy saving lamps are not ideal for domestic use.

Firstly, the white light they produce is "cold". This means that they produce a bluer kind of white. This hugley differs from the warmer white that is associates with tungston lamps. For this reason they are not suited for the home......... but good for carparks and shoppping malls!

Secondly, they can not be dimmed using a tradditional domestic dimmer. This means that it is impossible to change the mood of a room.

Finally, the lamp uses murcury..... so they are not that good for the environment. Imagine how many of these end up in landfill?

Don't belive the hype!

I hope this helps?

so they are not as friendly as they are made out to be. Not only do they give naff light they also bad for disposal. Politicians should be using them to cut down our tax bills . A great idea would be to buy millions of the old bulbs and sell them out as these new crap ones get forced into our homes.
