Unhappy paint and mould

Not sure if i should post this in this section but hey ho.

The wife keeps moaning at me for the mould growth on our bathroom ceiling and how she has to keep cleaning it.

Do you know of any paint that is anti mould, or cleaners that would make it easier to clean off.

There is no heating in the bathroom and it is downstairs on a concrete floor. Would Under floor heating solve my issue?

Getting to a point where the wife will kick me out and live with the mould. please help........

I dare say this is a combination of cold damp and lack of ventilation, I would say any heat source would help calm down any damp.
It has to be worth installing if you like your wife if not pour water through the roof felt and make the ceiling even worse.

Only joking

Yes an extraction fan would help. under floor heating would help also, it sounds like some diy is going to be going on. Dulux also do a special antimould growth paint, it is very expensive and not good to use you must wear rubber gloves and protect everything it is very hard to remove.

As all the other guys have said this is a ventilation problem, basically the steam rises with all many of bodily matter, soap and the like. Once there it just rots.

So get some bleach up there and scrub it off, and if your ceiling is smooth opt for a solvent eggshell finish. This will make it easy to clean off in the future as the mould will have a reduce hold on the eggshell.

Then either fit a fan or leave your window open when you've finished in the bathroom.

Cheers,

Agree with you there Dave, brushed on oil based eggshell is the best finish for flat bathroom and kitchen ceilings.
