Default How long for my plaster to dry?

My best friendy, debs, her fella is plastering a wall that needs redoing. The plaster looks still wet after 24 hours how long will it take to dry out and can we put paint straight on top please?

Is the plaster a skim coat over plasterboard???? if so a couple of weeks will be fine as long as the plaster is a uniform pink when dry.

You must ensure any wet/damp patches are fully dry.

We had a leak in supply line plumbing above our living room ceiling fixed four weeks ago. Two weeks after the leak was repaired I started on the ceiling. I scraped off all the loose paint (very minor damage to the plaster) in a large area and made smooth again with several sessions using drywall compound. I repaired a large hole in the ceiling with drywall, tape and compound. The drywall repair is fine. But the plaser repair area shows water damage. It does not feel wet.Nothing is dripping. Could the plaster still be drying out from a leak six weeks ago?

If you're talking about real plaster, I'd wait about 3-4 weeks to allow it to cure. Plaster doesn't dry like drywall mud, it takes longer. Hope this helps.

3 - 4 weeks is a very long time, maybe you mean three days..

I assume it's dry by now seems your post was in 2008

But for others yes wait until it is a light pink and make sure you put a watered down coat of paint on before painting to a finish.
