I have used a couple of sysytems but not sure which ones would or would not need a spark to connect...

You might try one called Ener foil this is a low volt system, the transformer just plugs in to a standard socket. just search in google for (tile adhesive) and at the top I think the site is trades directs or something like that, got mine from there.

Default enerfoil

Link to trades direct is also top of the page on TileForums.com (Powered by Invision Power Board)
Have used enerfoil just once. The panels are plastic panels, cannot be cut like others, to follow floor layout. Some years since i used it,but i seem to recall that panels had to be coated with some sort of messy primer prior to applying tile adhesive.Panels have also to be glued to substrate.

Evening guys, introduce myself quickly, I'm Paul...michel - I used the same system a good few years back, did around 3 of these before getting extremely pi**ed off with being covered in either sealer or glue, very messy & a pain to lay when your high on all those fumes (ahhh those were the day!), I swore the 3rd job was the last one using that kit & it was.

Regarding the electrics, I always go with direct wire kits, we know an electrician who always prices his side of the job for us, we add a little bit on the total of his quote just to cover admin really, maybe £10 or £20 max for phone calls, admin etc & we then check diaries & schedule the job, he never rips us off & all the work is NICEIC approved. Suppose you just need to know a good electrician whose local to you, we now pass each other lots of work so networking is a great tool. Only ever used a couple of the transformer types & had a problem with heat output with one of them (ie lack of it, turned out to be a manufacturing fault) so stick with what we know now. Anyway thats my ten peneth.

Yes I would agree these systems I have installed for many years and unless you have had a short training session you would get in a mess.
The truth is the system is one of the best on the market today however if the correct procedure is not adopted then it will become very messy.
I have installed over a 1000 and love the system but opinions will vary.
But at 0.2mm thick many customers like the idea if the overall height is an issue as it normally is.

Thank you for your comments.

Hello paul, interested to hear that you were as impressed with the system as i was. Well i thought that that would be curtains for the system and then we get a post praising it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well if i come across it again i shall persevere.

Being so thin there is no need, unlike the wire systems,to fill with self smoothing compound, which should keep costs down.

Mind you there is something about laying a cement based adhesive onto a plastic mat covered and stuck down with an Evostick looking adhesive which makes me a little apprehensive.

Enerfoil is a good system - like everything else it has its place. Stick it down with Enerbond (via BAL) and leave to dry. the downside is you can't tile over straight away but it is brill if doing multifloor tiling on same level and only some floors have UFH installed. If in the unlikely event of a failure then that particular panel can be replaced as opposed to replacing an entire cable system.
